Bengaluru News: Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced the payment of ₹ 847 crores pending for various projects of the Railway Department in the state.
The central government has demanded 847 crore from the state of Karnataka, which is already facing financial problems due to the corona epidemic and lockdown.
In a letter to CM BS Yeddyurappa on May 3, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said: Karnataka’s share of the cost of the project is ₹ 847 crore and the Karnataka government’s failure to deposit its share of the cost is affecting the implementation of railway projects in the state. The letter stated that you have to pay 847 crores of your share in order to expedite the process of handing over the railway to the land acquisition process for the railway projects.
Goyal also demanded the deposit of the share of railway projects in Karnataka for the fiscal year 2021-22, with the Railway Department undertaking a total of 36 projects (21 new routes and 15 doublings) at a total cost of ₹ 49,536 crores. These projects are in various stages of preparation/approval/implementation.
For the acquisition of 608.21 ha of three railway projects Department of Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, deposited at 80.63 Govt. Yet to be handed over. Failure to take over the land acquisition process has forced the Railways to curtail investment with the Karnataka government and delay the implementation of the projects. Otherwise, it could be used to implement projects in the state.
Krishna Mysore, in his Twitter account, expressed displeasure over the matter, saying, “The central government should provide Karnataka’s tax share, relief for natural disasters, and the maintenance of Covid 19 before the state. Do not realize that getting your own party state government for your inferior politics will not go unnoticed by the people of the state. ”
Responding to this, a senior official of the Southwestern Railway Division said, “The Railway Department is sending letters to all the states to review the pending amount of rail project delays. Some projects may have been completed long ago. State governments, however, are of the opinion that they should fail to cover their share of project costs.
